Charlotte Crosby slammed for wearing customised coronavirus mask on Bali hen do

Reality TV star Charlotte Crosby has been trolled online for donning a customised coronavirus mask on a friend’s hen do.

The former Geordie Shore babe, 29, has jetted off with a group of friends, including bestie Sophie Kasaei, to Bali, where the party-goers wore the face covers in a nightclub.

MTV star Charlotte and her friends opted to have black masks personalised with the words “Bali b*****” printed on them for their girls trip away.

Demand for surgical masks has spiked in recent weeks due to the global spread of coronavirus.

The girls were seen posing on a table filled with bottles of booze, as they showed off their new fashion accessories.

Despite Charlotte and the gang taking extra precaution not to catch the disease, fans have pointed out that there have not been any reported cases of coronavirus in Bali as of yet.

One fan penned: “You’re going to Bali your won’t need those masks. there’s no cases of coronavirus there ! [sic]”

Another added: “”Why have you deleted all the comments calling you out about how poor taste those masks are???”

Wearing surgical masks in public is not uncommon with East Asian countries and authorities in the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the virus began, have made it mandatory for the public and officials to wear the masks out all times in public places.

UK citizens have been spotted wearing the masks on public transport and in airports, but experts have called in to question how effective they are at stopping the spread of the disease.

Dr Simon Clarke appeared on ITV daytime show This Morning last week to tell viewers that the masks were pointless.

“They’re pretty useless,” he explained.

“The pores and the fibres in them are too big for the virus.

“The virus is smaller than the wavelength of light, they will just pass straight through them, they will infect you by your eyes potentially.”

“Unless you have a military-grade respirator, forget it,” he added.

NHS guidelines have suggested ways to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus which include washing your hands for 20 seconds throughout the day and avoiding close contact with those who are unwell.
