Anthony Chisholm, best known for his appearances in stage productions and on television, has died at the age of 77.
The stage and screen star starred in the Spike Lee film Chi-Raq as well as HBO crime series Oz for three series, as well as plenty of theatre productions.
His management agency The Katz Company confirmed that Anthony passed away on Friday.
A statement from Jeremy Katz read: “The Katz Company is saddened to announce the passing of our longtime friend and client, Tony-Nominee, Anthony Chisholm.
“Affectionately called ‘Chiz’, he was an actor and storyteller like none-other, embodying loyalty, devotion, and compassion to his artistry.”

The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Anthony leaves behind his son Alexander, daughter Che and his grandchildren Ravi and Avani.
Before becoming an actor, Anthony was a platoon leader in the US Army and fought in Vietnam.
But he credits his mother for his acting career, previously telling Broadway World: “My mom, rest her soul, was an unpublished novelist and wrote a lot of poetry. She taught me as a toddler the appreciation of the spoken word.”
On Broadway, Anthony appeared in the likes of Two Trains Running and Jitney.
Meanwhile, he received a Tony Award nomination for his role in playwright August Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle play series Radio Golf.
Anthony also received a lot of praise for role of Burr Redding in the HBO show Oz, on which he starred between 2001 and 2003.
As for movies, Anthony appeared in films such as Chi-Raq, Going In Style with Michael Caine, the Adam Sandler comedy Reign Over Me and Premium Rush.
