Coronation Street fans distracted by Scott voice 'blunder' in shooting scene

Coronation Street fans were on the edge of their seats during this evening’s trip to Weatherfield, as Scott Emberton (Tom Roberts) shot up the Bistro in a botched robbery attempt.

Arriving on the scene with a terrifying clown mask covering his face, the gangster ordered Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) and his cronies to hand over their cash.

However, watching from home, viewers pointed out Scott had made no effort to mask his voice, giving his identity away completely.

Many fans were quick to suggest Ray would recognise Scott’s accent, having worked with him in the past.

Taking to Twitter, viewers made it clear the accent blunder had distracted them during the scene, as the horrific shooting played out before them.

Coronation Street viewers suggested Scott would be easily distinguished due to his voice

One said: “Is this hold up a set up between Ray and Scott. I mean you could clearly recognise Scott’s voice, he made no attempt to disguise it.”

“That scene of Scott robbing the bistro was like something from a primary school play. They will recognise his voice,” agreed a second.

And a third chimed: “Okay so he’s gone somewhere everyone knows him and hasn’t even tried to disguise his voice how does he expect this to work.”

“@itvcorrie how Scott didn’t even try to hide his voice when robbing the Local Bistro!” penned a fourth.

Scott has been wreaking havoc for Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) in recent scenes, pressuring him to act as his getaway driver and threatening to reveal the secrets of his past.

Refusing to take part in his twisted hold-up, tonight’s episode saw Johnny collapse to the ground as his MS struck, leading Scott to knock him unconscious.

Thankfully, Johnny managed to wake up in time to crawl to a payphone, alerting the police to the crime unfolding in the Bistro.

Sadly, it proved too late for copper Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), who was shot in the crossfire as he attempted to save Faye WIndass.

Can Craig survive the attack, or has Scott taken a life?
