Coronation Street viewers were furious this evening when Billy Mayhew and Sean Tully continued their search for Todd Grimshaw – without contacting his mother.
Since his disappearance, the duo has been consulting with Mary Taylor about their search, but have left Eileen Grimshaw in the dark.
Over on Twitter, viewers took to their keyboards to fume over their decision to keep the hunt secret from Eileen, branding the move as “out of line”.
One said: “Why the hell don’t Billy & Sean just contact Eileen already? For all they know she knows all about what’s actually happened to Todd.”
“Also why haven’t they told Eileen yet. She should know what they are doing at least Todd is her son after all,” added a second.
And a third chimed: “Billy, Sean & Mary need to stop playing amateur detectives & tell Eileen about Todd. They’re so out of line.”

Todd hasn’t been seen in Weatherfield since 2017, leaving the cobbles and going on the run, with a heartbroken Eileen picking up the pieces.
Billy, who was formerly in a relationship with Todd, assured his boyfriend Paul Foreman he had no romantic feelings towards Todd anymore, insisting he was simply concerned for his welfare.
Bringing poor Eileen into the conversation, he said: “All I’m looking for him is for Eileen.”
Billy added: “I don’t want to get back together with him – you know that.”
In upcoming scenes, after their research on social media offers no new leads, Sean and Billy decide to take their worries to the police and file a missing person report.
Todd’s name is added to the missing persons’ list, as they meet with the Finding People charity for extra help with the hunt.
Billy warns Sean against looking on the missing persons’ database, but his anxiety becomes too much and he takes a look.
In a horrifying discovery, he sees a man’s body has been found in a river, leaving him devastated.
Could Todd’s life be in danger?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
