Coronation Street's David spirals out of control as Shona demands divorce

David Platt is set for more heartbreak on Coronation Street as Shona returns to Weatherfield demanding a divorce from her husband.

Corrie bosses are lining up an emotional return for Shona – played by Julia Goulding – who went on maternity leave after her character was left in a coma after she was accidentally shot on Christmas Day.

However, it won’t be happy news for David when Shona returns claiming she wants to “draw a line under their marriage”.

Speaking to TV Times, Jack P Shepherd who plays David claimed that the troubled father-of-two is in a fragile place at the moment.

He said: “David’s living on the edge right now, and David on the edge is capable of anything.”

Fans of Coronation Street last saw Shona when she came out of her coma in hospital.

Annoyingly to David, his wife was transferred to a rehabilitation unit in Leeds after she sustained serious injuries from the shooting.

She went on to suffer memory loss and couldn’t remember her husband once she had woken up.

To make matters worse for David, Shona mistook his son Max for her own child Clayton — who killed David’s first wife and Max’s mum, Kylie.

Last week, Julia was seen on set for the first time with her son Franklin just four months after she went on maternity leave.

Wearing her official Corrie “warm coat” an excited Julia exclaimed: “Hi everyone, you may be wondering why I’m wearing my Coronation Street warm coat, it’s because Shona’s back!”

Fans instantly flooded the replies section, with one exclaiming: “Ah, what fantastic news! Great to see her!”

Julia grinned from ear to ear as she teased Shona’s return

While a second added: “Ahhhh there she is and looking fab !! Cannot wait to see Julia back love her”.

A third went on to say: “I’ve really missed Shona. It’s good to see Julia back filming.”
