Coronation Street's Les Dennis fears death as he turns 67 after dad died aged 66

Les Dennis has revealed he is now more aware than ever of his own mortality.

The TV legend says since turning 67 he has thought about life more due to the fact his father died aged 66.

Taking to Twitter, the former Coronation Street star, who played Michael Rodwell in the hit ITV soap, wrote: “My last day of being 66 coming to an end.

“My dad was just 66 when he died.

“Mortality sinks in as we pass these milestones.

“These are weird times but I’m blessed to have an amazing family.

“Thank you lovely ones. 67 here I come.”

Replying to Les’ post one fan wrote: “I’m 66 too. Will be 67 next month.

“I remain a risk taker building new memories.

“My mother died at 40 my father at 51. Numbers mean nothing.”

Another added: “Have another good one mate and many, many more.”

Meanwhile a third continued: “My mum died at 43. I’m 48 now. Feels like bonus time.”

Les replied: “Keep the bonuses coming.”

He later continued: “Thank you all for your lovely birthday messages.

“I’m overwhelmed by the love on here. Trolls are outnumbered by thoroughly descent people. As Lennon said, ‘Imagine all the people.’ Thank you all.”

Les is currently married to Claire Nicholson.

The couple have two children together – Eleanor, 12, and Thomas, aged nine.

He is also father to his son Phillip from his first marriage to Lynne Webster.

Les recently opened up about the revamped edition of his classic show Family Fortunes.

The ITV reboot is now hosted by celebrity chef and presenter Gino D’Acampo.

Chatting on Channel 4’s new daytime show Steph’s Packed Lunch, Les said: “It was kind of like watching someone who had burgled my house and redecorated it.

“People said to me you should go back, but that’s like saying to Adam West, ‘You should be Batman again.’

“I did it for it for all those years, had a great time with it and when I took it over Bob Monkhouse called me and said he’s passing the baton on.

“I think he’s [Gino] doing a great job!”
