The Big Night In aired on BBC tonight in a bid to raise as much money as possible for those on the frontline fighting Covid-19, as well as the people going the extra mile to support their communities.
The one-off programme is a joint effort from Children In Need and Comic Relief, who have teamed up for the first time to help charities and projects around the UK, during the coronavirus pandemic.
Sir Lenny Henry, Matt Baker and Davina McCall were on presenting duty tonight for the first section of the fundraising appeal show.
Former Big Brother presenter Davina, 52, donned a figure-hugging bright yellow gown this evening.
The off-the-shoulder midi-dress complemented The Masked Singer UK star in all the right places.
Davina left her trademark brunette locks hang loosely to her shoulders.
The Big Night In celebrated key workers and raised money for people who have been affected by the coronavirus crisis.
“It’s so exciting to actually be able to do something positive… especially bringing Comic Relief and Children In Need together for one night only,” Davina McCall told BBC Radio 5 Live on Wednesday.
Sir Lenny told BBC Breakfast on Saturday the aim of the night was to let “the key workers and the care workers know that we really respect what they’re doing”, he said.
Speaking about the fundraising, he added: “A lot of the projects that we support have come to us and said that they’re really struggling in this time. They need our help.”
During tonight’s show, Davina sent fans into meltdown as she used her iconic “please do not swear” during the first 10 minutes of tonight’s live appeal show.
According to the website, BBC Children In Need and Comic Relief will be splitting the funds equally, focusing on three areas: food and other basic essentials, connecting people with vital services and tackling isolation and supporting local charities and projects to adapt and innovate to address hidden risks.
The Big Night In will see the return of Little Britain and Catherine Tate will bring back her ionic character Lauren “Am I Bovvered” Cooper.
Gary Barlow, Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon, Jack Whitehall, Romesh Ranganathan, Miranda Hart and the cast of People Just Do Nothing are among the others appearing on the show.
As well as the Strictly Come Dancing professionals, who have come up with a new routine for people to learn at home during coronavirus lockdown.
