Dancing On Ice ‘s pro skater, Alex Demetriou took to Instagram to share a cryptic quote, speaking out about ‘stress’ soon after confirming separation plans from his wife Carlotta Edwards.

The pro skater, who had been married to Carlotta for four years, verified that the pair had decided to part ways in a heartfelt message.

Alex, who was partnered with Love Island’s Maura Higgins on this years ITV ice skating competition, had faced lots of speculation about a romantic connection with the reality star.

Maura and Alex were reported to have shared a close bond while partnered together on the hit dancing show.

Alex has remained quiet following the announcement of the split with Carlotta until today when he shared a cryptic message.

He captioned, alongside a post of him enjoying a run in the sunshine: “With all the stress you carry around…with every step leave it behind, clear your mind, fuel your soul.

“Ocean breeze and the sun is out. What more can you ask for? Best time yet as well. #freethemind #isolation #blackpool.”

The mystifying post lands after Alex had confirmed his marriage was over, he penned: “I’m sorry I have been quiet on social media recently but it’s been a tough time personally for me.

“Carlotta and I have separated.

“Although it saddens me that we can no longer be together, I feel this is best for the both of us.

“I’m looking forward to what the future will bring but in the meantime let’s all stay home and stay safe.”

Carlotta and Alex are said to have grown apart over the growing friendship between Alex, 28, and Maura, 29.

The pair, who competed together on the most recent skating series, have continued to strongly deny claims that they are anything other than friends but have both faced their own relationship breakdowns.

Following her split from Curtis, Maura vowed to still be friends with Alex, despite romantic claims surfacing.

She said: “We have such a laugh, and we’re still going to be friends. No matter what’s said, I’m not going to be afraid to hang out with him.”
