EastEnders fans confused by Karen exit as they point out London blunder

EastEnders viewers were scratching their heads after Tuesday’s episode, wondering if they’d missed something regarding Karen Taylor’s move away from Albert Square.

Karen (Lorraine Stanley) was moving away from Walford with her baby grandson Kayden, as the tot’s mum Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) didn’t want him in her life or to be around him, as she was grieving the death of her other son Denny.

During Tuesday night’s episode, Karen was set to make her exit, with son Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) deciding he wanted to up sticks and move too after some issues in the square recently.

They prepared to say their goodbyes, with Karen’s love interest Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) admitting he was finding it too hard.

Meanwhile Keegan’s wife Tiffany (Maisie Smith) burst into tears when she discovered he wanted to leave the square – and her in it.

But viewers were left seriously confused, as she has only been planning to move to Croydon, which is also an area in London.

One tweeted: “So Karen and Kayden are moving from Walford to Croydon?!”

Another said: “Where the f*** is Karen going? Abroad?”

A third wrote: “Why we acting like Croydon is far away, yes it’s not down the road, but my gosh so dramatic.”

And someone else added: “Why they acting like Croydon is the other side of the world? Not every couple live on the same street.”

EastEnders is set in the London postcode of E20, which is based around Stratford, approximately 20 miles from Croydon.

So while it’s not a million miles away, it would still take a while for Karen and Billy or Keegan and Tiff to see each other regularly.

However, fans need not worry, as Sharon announced at the end of the episode that she had told Karen not to move as she’d had a change of heart about Kayden.

EastEnders currently airs Mondays at 8.30pm and Tuesdays at 7.30pm on BBC One
