EastEnders fans gobsmacked as Stacey Fowler returns in unexpected plot twist

EastEnders favourite Stacey Fowler returned to Walford unexpectedly tonight, as her voice could be heard in a phone call.

Stacey hasn’t been seen in Walford since last year, when actress Lacey Turner left the soap to give birth to her daughter Dusty Violet.

Tonight, Stacey made a spectacular comeback, as her voice could be heard in Albert Square for the first time in months.

Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) rang Stacey to check-in, after her mum Jean Slater’s condition took a worrying turn.

Jean, played by Gillian Wright, has been refusing to take her bipolar medication, leaving her family and friends concerned for her health.

Over on Twitter, fans were thrilled to hear Stacey’s voice return, waxing lyrical about her phone call cameo.

Kush reached out to Stacey over the phone tonight, in an effort to explain Jean’s situation

One said: “Stacey’s phone call cameo? Best moment of 2020? Definitely.”

A second agreed: “Hearing Stacey’s voice has saved me omg!”

“We have heard Stacey’s name throughout this episode. She’s coming back sooner than we might think I reckon,” added a third.

“STACEY COME BACK TO ME,” gushed a fourth.

Stacey sounded petrified when she picked up the phone, as Kush exclaimed: “Stace!”

She replied: “I got your message, what’s up?”

Glossing over the situation with Jean, he said: “I wanted to touch base, see how you were.”

Worried about little Arthur, Stacey asked: “Is Arthur alright?”

Laughing down the phone, Kush said: “Arthur’s great. Actually, he drew you at nursery, you’ve got green hair. “

However, the kind-hearted Kush was soon forced to lie, when Stacey asked: “How’s mum?”

Hiding his true feelings of concern, he replied: “She’s fine! She’s absolutely fine.”

What could Stacey’s return signal for the residents of Walford?

EastEnders currently airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC One.
