EastEnders' Gray Atkins has 'murdered Chantelle' as fans spot chilling clue

EastEnders viewers are convinced Gray Atkins has murdered his wife Chantelle – and the truth will come to light in post-lockdown episodes.

The speculation comes after BBC released behind-the-scenes footage from post-lockdown production, showing the cast members safely returning to the set.

In one scene, Gray, played by Toby-Alexander Smith, could be seen turning his temper to Chantelle’s mum, Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley), in the Queen Vic.

Chantelle (Jessica Kate Plummer) was nowhere to be seen in the shot, leading to speculation over whether Gray’s abusive behaviour had reached a devastating conclusion.

For months, EastEnders fans have witnessed the volatile lawyer take out his temper on his wife, lashing out and attempting to control her behaviour from behind closed doors.

Writing on Walford Web, certain fans predicted upcoming scenes will reveal that Chantelle has been murdered – with Gray as the culprit.

One said: “More convinced Chantelle is a goner! The actress got new headshots & we all know what that means…Lorraine Stanley is saying Karen has a dark story coming up.

“I also don’t see Chantelle leaving Gray & him just going to prison or coming back for some revenge plot which sees him die as It’s all been done before.”

Another agreed: “Karen’s dark storyline will probably be her joining the ‘Bereaved Parents of Albert Square’ club.

“Ian, Sharon and Max will welcome her in after Gray beats her daughter Chantelle just a little bit too hard next time. Just a hunch.”

Meanwhile, on Twitter, one fan said: “If Gray k*lled Chantelle… No ma’am.”

EastEnders is currently on a break as filming resumes, after production ground to a halt in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In its place, the BBC has been releasing episodes of Secrets from the Square on Monday evenings.

Hosted by Stacey Dooley, the series sees legendary cast members such as Letitia Dean and Danny Dyer discuss their time in Walford – and the off-camera antics of lore.
