Eastenders actress Tamzin Outwaite has been met with major criticism after she tried to hire builders during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 49-year-old soap actress, who shot to fame playing the role of Mel Owen on the popular BBC programme, put out a request on Twitter for builders earlier this week.
Fans fumed after she tweeted asking for workmen to come to her house, with some making the point that building work is no essential during Covid-19 lockdown.
Tamzin shared a post on Twitter with her 223.8k followers, saying: “I’m confused. Can I find 1 or 2 workmen to level and tile an area of the garden in these times?”
Twitter users flocked to her post, slating her for her social media request amid the coronavirus pandemic.

One said: “Considering you could not believe people were still going out a few days ago, I cannot believe you are expecting people to come out to fix some paving slabs for you!! Practice what you preach,”
While another added: “Even if you can, you shouldn’t.”
A third fumed: “No. No. No. Essential travel only. Come on where’s your common sense? The less people driving in-essentially ..the less car accidents, thus the less strain on the NHS! My 18 year old son won’t go for a drive in isolation because……IT’S NOT ESSENTIAL!!”

Tamzin added another tweet which said: “There still seems to be outdoor garden & building work happening. Grey area?”
But fans were still unhappy, with one saying: “Just why though? No grey needed. Not essential, not needed, saving lives is and that’s not a grey area. It’s simple, non-essential, do not do it!”
Despite some slamming Tamzin’s builder request, others rushed to defend the actress, saying it was a fair enough ask.
One said:”Dr Hilary said anyone working in garden is fine. It may give someone some work who has been laid off.”

While another typed: “It was an honest question people! Where’s your empathy and understanding? This is a new experience for most so it’s natural to ask when you’re not sure about something.”
Tamzin then added: “Thank you for your messages. It would be giving a self employed worker a job but you are right, not essential.
“To be clear guys… I was just asking a question about a one man/woman job at the end of a garden which is metres away from anyone. A lone self -employed gardener who has no income and a family to feed. As it seems there is plenty of outdoor work still happening….”
