Donald Trump is said to have turned to music legend Elton John for help when trying to win over North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
The US President is said to have become hell bent on getting the dictator a copy of Elton’s ionic hit Rocket Man during the summer of 2018.
According to an upcoming tell-all book by Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton, the President was keen to build bridges though the power of music.
Being a massive fan of Elton John himself, Trump is said to have been determined to get Kim a CD of Rocket Man after discovering the rival leader had never heard the track.
Writing in his book,The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir, Bolton said: “Trump didn’t seem to realise [Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo hadn’t actually seen Kim Jong Un [during Pompeo’s follow-up overseas trip], asking if Pompeo had handed the autographed CD to Kim.

“Pompeo had not. Getting this CD to Kim remained a high priority for several months.”
In a bizarre twist, Trump is said to have wanted to make sure the Rocket Man CD was signed… by himself.
The book goes on to claim that Trump was sure that while Elton wasn’t involved in the gift, he would support it as it would give him international press.

“The president said something like, ‘Boy, I bet Elton will get a kick out of this!’” said a former senior Trump administration official.
“It seemed like he hadn’t spoken to [Elton John] in a while… I know from my conversations with the president that he finds it regrettable that he and Elton John haven’t been closer during his presidency.”

Speaking in 2016, Elton was complimentary about Trump but keen to distance himself from the former US Apprentice star’s presidency bid.
Elton told The Guardian: “I don’t really want my music to be involved in anything to do with an American election campaign.
“I’m British. I’ve met Donald Trump, he was very nice to me, it’s nothing personal, his political views are his own, mine are very different, I’m not a Republican in a million years.
“Why not ask Ted Nugent? Or one of those fucking country stars? They’ll do it for you.”
