Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has spoken out about his role Cain Dingle’s future on the beloved ITV soap after fans feared his character would be killed off.
Jeff, 50, has played the iconic part of Cain since 2000, and since his character’s been crossing paths with a certain evil resident in the village, fans have been concerned.
Viewers saw the Cain’s fiery feud with corrupt police officer DI Malone, and fans feared producers were planning on writing him out of the show after Cain’s conflict with the cop.
Cain actor Jeff has addressed the rumours of his ongoing characters departure, saying he cannot confirm or deny fans fears that his character will die.

He told the Press Association that he has not read his scripts, so has kept himself in the dark over his character’s future on the popular ITV soap.
Jeff tol the publication: “Mark and myself have just been really enjoying these sparring matches. But I do think he’s met his match – maybe on both counts,” Jeff said.
“As the story will play out, we’ll find out,” he added.

The actor has also revealed that his character certainly has a shelf life, and is unsure as to when his time on the television show will come to an end.
He said: “I’ve enjoyed playing Cain it’s been a huge part of my life. I’m very close to him and protective over him. But inevitably there will be a day where the script writers or the producers say it’s the end of the line.”

Fans have let their fears of Cain’s rumoured killing be known, as they continue to worry about the characters future on Twitter.
One said: “Why would Emmerdale kill off cain dingle his a legend and I think they shouldn’t kill him just make him see his meet his match.”
While another wrote: “Swear if Cain dies never watching Emmerdale again.”
“Please don’t kill Cain” added a third Emmerdale fan.
