Emmerdale sex abuser Maya Stepney to torment Leyla as stalker 'exposed' by fans

Emmerdale fans are convinced Maya Stepney could be about to make a terrifying return to the Yorkshire dales, as Leyla Harding’s tormentor is unmasked.

The disgraced school teacher, played by Louisa Clein, left the village after her affair with schoolboy Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) was exposed.

Upcoming scenes will see Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) strike an intruder in the face after a series of strange occurrences leads to a break-in in the salon.

Back in May, viewers’ suspicions were raised when the Take A Vow salon was destroyed by a mystery assailant, right before Leyla was due to make an important presentation.

Leyla had recently ended her romance with Dr Liam Cavanagh, who famously had his heartbroken by his cheating ex Maya.

After the incident, certain Emmerdale fans took to Twitter, convinced vanished schoolteacher Maya was behind the crime.

One said: “Me thinks Maya is back.”

A second agreed: “The question is is it Leanna who is responsible. I mean it could be Maya back for revenge.”

“Would it of been Maya to get revenge on what Tracey and Layla did to her? #Emmerdale,” added a third.

While a fourth wondered: “Is Maya about to make an appearance??”

Emmerdale spoilers have revealed next week’s episode will see the arrival of a strange newcomer in the village, named Gaz.

David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) grows suspicious when Gaz reveals he is meeting with a “loose woman,” only for the stranger to introduce himself to Leyla.

Leyla hears a noise in the Take a Vow office and turns to see an assailant

Later, Gaz arrives in the salon with plans to organise a wedding, leaving more questions than answers.

When Leyla eventually finds herself confronted by a masked intruder, she strikes a blow, eventually unveiling the identity behind her tormentor.

Is Maya at fault, or is there more to the story?

Emmerdale airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
