The Chase Celebrity special was back this evening and it was one of the programme’s throwback specials.
Taking on Chase Anne Hegerty were a host of celebrities including Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh, journalists John Sergeant and Mariella Frostrup and sports pundit Ugo Monye.
Ranvir, who was first up to take on Anne, certainly didn’t hold back in the banter stakes, taking a brutal swipe at show host Bradley Walsh, 60.
Bradley quizzed Ranvir, 42, on what Jeremy Paxman was like when she met him on University Challenge.
Ranvir decided to compare Jeremy to Bradley, and at first she was very complimentary to The Chase host.
She said: “You’re funnier more handsome bit shorter.”
Bradley was left open-mouthed over Ranvir’s cheeky jibe.
Just ahead of her going head-to-head with Anne, Bradley added: “Good luck, you’re going to need it because you called me short.”
And it seems the Bradley “short” remarks were catching, as later during his head-to-head Chaser battle, Ugo also made a dig at Bradley over his height.
Ugo was asked: “What classification of planet did the International Astronomical Union introduce in 2006?”
The possible answers were: “Dwarf planet, Goblin planet or Fairy planet.”
Ugo said: “Dwarf planet,” because he was inspired by what Ranvir said about Bradley’s height earlier in the show.
Three out of four celebrities made it through to the final chase, after John Sergeant failed to add £70,000 to the prize pot, after being beaten by Anne, who was on particularly formidable form.
The remaining trio managed to bag 15 steps in the final round, but it was no match for Anne, who was on particularly formidable form.
The Chase continues tomorrow at 5pm on ITV
