Viewers of Tuesday’s This Morning were left ‘outraged’ after Gyles Brandreth made a controversial coronavirus joke.
The 72-year-old writer was discussing his new joke book when he made the gag, and many viewers deemed it ‘inappropriate’ and ‘offensive’.
Eamonn told the Celebrity Gogglebox star: “Come on Gyles, make us laugh.”
Gyles replied: “I’d love to tell you my favourite coronavirus joke, but it’ll take you two weeks to see if you get it.”
Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford chuckled, as Holmes said: “That’s an intelligent joke as well.”
Some viewers also found the joke funny, but others were offended.

One said: “Shame on you @thismorning for having guests that are making jokes about Covid-19. It was disrespectful and in bad taste.”
While another wrote: “Get ready OfCom, Gyles is guaranteed to offend.”
A third added: “This is my dad he died from covid, in less than ‘2 weeks’ by your standards that’s supposed to be funny is it? #ThisMorning your humour was offensive and disgusting. @CovidJusticeUk I’m not sure 1600 families are laughing with you.”
“@thismorning really inappropriate coronavirus joke from your ‘man that makes you laugh’, please remember some of your viewers have lost family….not ok”, tweeted a fourth viewer.

Not everyone was offended by Gyles’ jokes however, as a Twitter user said: “I’m in hysterics listening to Gyles’ jokes, literally in tears.”
Another remarked: “Gyles Brandreths in the house!!”
Yesterday on This Morning, viewers went into meltdown after a guest swore live on air.
The show’s new consumer expert Katie Morley was listening a caller named Lesley explain the difficulty she’d had getting a refund for a sofa.

Her emotions got the better of her as she declared: “So sorry darling that’s s***”, before quickly covering her mouth when she realised what she’d done.
Viewers went into a frenzy on social media, with one writing: “@KatieMorley_ oooops s*** on @thismorning made my day – a real honest response #ThisMorning.”
“@EamonnHolmes’s face…what a legend. Get her back she’s ace!”, laughed another.
