Holby City's Belinda Owusu looks completely different in EastEnders throwback

Belinda Owusu delights fans each week playing Nicky McKendrick on BBC soap Holby City.

The 31-year-old soap star has played the beloved role since she joined the series in August 2017.

However, fans might also recognise the TV actress from EastEnders, as she used to play Libby Fox on the popular soap based in the fictional location of Albert Square, Walford.

Belinda’s EastEnders role was worlds away from her that of her current Holby City character.

Libby was portrayed as intelligent and competitive, while although Nicky is smart, she doesn’t have a strong desire to be the best like some of her colleagues on the Darwin ward.

It’s also no secret that Nicky is something of a party animal, and isn’t a stranger to showing up to work with a hangover.

Belinda looked completely different when she first played Libby 2006.

She entered the show as the youngest daughter of Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Owen Turner (Lee Ross) and was featured in many huge storylines, including when Owen tried to murder her.

Her character left in 2010, with her departure episode being broadcast on August 5 2010.

Libby returned in 2014 as part of the beginning of the major Who Killed Lucy Beale? storyline.

Since then, she continued to make various guest appearances up until January 2017, before Belinda joined the cast of Holby City.

Belinda’s beloved Holby City character Nicky has been going through a difficult time on the soap at the moment.

Earlier this month, she was pushed to the limit after her family friend Auntie Brenda (Lynn Hunter) died.

Jac (Rosie Marcel) is enraged as she discovers Nicky made a promise to Auntie Brenda’s son that she couldn’t keep.

Struggling to deal with the stress of the day, Nicky has a panic attack before collapsing.

It was then revealed she had in fact had a heart attack, and was left fighting for her life, before being saved by her beloved Holly colleagues.

Holby City continues tonight at 8.30pm on BBC One.
