Holly Willoughby admits she's 'counting down days' to lengthy This Morning break

This Morning host Holly Willoughby admitted she was counting down the days until she can temporarily leave the show, as she jokingly totted up the number of hours she had left on the screen.

Speaking on Wednesday’s instalment of This Morning, Holly tried to calculate how much screen time remained before she could take her annual leave.

Counting down the days, she happily declared that she had just three days left before she was free to enjoy her summer.

However, making a maths blunder as she totted up the remaining hours, Phillip Schofield scoffed: “Your maths is shocking!”

Giggling, Holly said: “It is a bit…”

Spilling the beans, he confessed: “She’s just said, ‘got three more to go, that’s six hours worth of telly’ with about 10 seconds before you saw us.”

Correcting her, Phil added: “Actually its seven and a half hours.”

Pretending she planned to leave Phil to present the show by herself, she added: “I hate to inform you but I’m only going to be doing about six of them.”

Phil announced the duo were taking a break on yesterday’s instalment, making the announcement during a game of Spin to Win.

When a caller named Mary rang into the studio, Phil decided to generously increase her prize as he gently broke the news about their impending exit.

In response, he quipped: “We’re off for the summer on Friday so they can’t sack me.”

ITV has confirmed that Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes will be replacing Phil and Holly in the weeks to come, filling in from Mondays to Thursdays.

Friday episodes will see special guests hosting the show in their place, though ITV has yet to confirm the talent taking the role.

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
