Janet Street-Porter described the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry biography Finding Freedom a “PR disaster” and said it was too “gushing” in a debate on Loose Women today.
The unofficial biography, written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, was put together allegedly using the royal couple’s close friends for the inside scoop.
Janet, along with her Loose Women co-stars Stacey Solomon and Brenda Edwards, discussed if the biography had “backfired” on the ITV show this morning.
She said: “I felt the tone of the book was very gushing.”
Janet said she had read tidbits of the book that were published in The Sunday Times ahead of its release but didn’t want to read the whole book.

She said: “I don’t want that pap to clog up my brain.”
“Harry and Meghan, if they did cooperate with the book, I think it’s a bit of a PR disaster for them,” she added.
Janet also said she doubted it would help the couple be taken “seriously” on the world stage.
“The book has got some amazingly banal details in it like Archie was born with his eyes open,” she said.

Prince Harry and Meghan have denied being interviewed for the book and author Omid addressed the rumours of “secret interviews” on Lorraine yesterday.
An author’s note in Finding Freedom suggests that the writers did have some degree of input from Harry and Meghan, Mail Online reports.
It reads: “We have spoken with close friends of Harry and Meghan, royal aides and palace staff (past and present), the charities and organisations they have built long-lasting relationships with and, when appropriate, the couple themselves.”
Meanwhile, Stacey doubted the book was “word for word” how Harry and Meghan feel, but said they would have spoken out if the book said things they believed were inaccurate or untrue.
Stacey said: “So, I don’t think there’s anything in there that’s upset them or has painted them in a light that they don’t want.
“But I also don’t know if everything in there is straight from the horse’s mouth.”
