Amber Heard wrote in her diary that her husband Johnny Depp hit her ‘several times’ during their honeymoon.
In a diary entry read out in court on the sixth day of Johnny Depp’s libel case against The Sun newspaper, the court heard how Amber had penned an extract about their time on the Eastern Oriental, The Orient Express of Malaysia.
Heard claimed that Depp ‘wrapped his shirt around her neck’ during a 3.0am row in their train cabin.
“I don’t even know how I wound up with this huge knot on the back of my head,” Heard wrote.
Depp’s bodyguard Malcolm Connolly was also on the train staying “3 or 4′ carriages down from the couple.
Being cross examined in court, Depp’s lawyer David Sherborne asked he saw Heard with any injuries.
Connolly said he didn’t.

Ask if she ever told him she had received any injuries, Connelly said no, she didn’t.
Asked he would have seen the injuries should she have suffered them buy Sherborne, Connolly replied: “I would have seen them.”
He went on to explain that as a former prison officer he is trained in violent inmate extraction and part of his training involved injury assessment and “spotting bruise patterns”.
Connolly was later shown a photo of Depp lying in hospital with a mark on the right side of his face after the couple rowed in Australia.

The bodyguard said Depp had told him Heard had stubbed out a cigarette on his face.
Asked what the mark was in the photo Connolly replied: “That is the cigarette burn.”
Connolly said he had heard of Heard hitting Depp before.
He said the violence happened “in Australia and in Los Angeles”.
The bodyguard is then presented with a text which is believed to have been sent to him by his then boss Johnny Depp.
The message read: “Please get her out of this room now. She has struck me about 10 times. Cannot take it any more.”
Asking about the text, Sherborne said: “In your experience in dealing with Ms Heard and Mr Depp over a number of years is this a one-off type of text?”

Connolly simply replied: “No.”
Pushing the mater, Sherborne asked: “Did you ever witness Mr Depp physically hit Ms Heard on any occasion?”
Speaking under oath, Connolly replied: “No. I would not tolerate any man striking a woman no matter who he is.
“Not even if he’s my boss. I would not care if he’s the Pope.”
Depp is suing the publishers of The Sun, News Group Newspapers, for libel after an April 2018 article by Executive Editor Dan Wootton branded him a ‘wife beater’.
Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard is also appearing in the court as a key witness for the defence.
Johnny categorically denies claims that he was physically violent to Heard during their relationship.
Heard claims Depp was violent towards her 14 times.
