Kanye West branded 'irresponsible' over Trump support by pop star Lauv

US pop star Lauv has branded Kanye West ‘irresponsible’ over his US presidency bid and support of Donald Trump.

The I Like Me Better hit maker describes the rapper and producer as “one of the greatest of all time”, but has slammed his politics as being irresponsible.

Kanye announced on July 4 that he was running for running for President as a late entry ahead of the election in November.

But Kim Kardashian’s husband who has spoken publicly about his bi-polar disorder, shocked potential voters with his views on abortion and faith leading legislation

Lauv, 25, said: “His support for Trump… I just feel like he’s literally one of the greatest musicians of all time, one of the most groundbreaking creators and I think he’s afforded himself this reputation of honestly being like uncancellable.

“On one hand I respect his ability to be really real and say how he feels but on the other hand it can definitely be really irresponsible you know like having so much influence and him supporting the Trump presidency… that’s very scary.”

Lauv, who features on Ellie Goulding’s latest track Slow Grenade, added: “It’s scary somebody who maybe just has a following can just take that into politics which has nothing to do, I don’t know it’s very confusing.

Kanye has been a long-time supporter of Trump, with visits to the White House, photo ops in front of Trump Tower in New York and chummy tweets between the two.

However, he said he was “taking his red hat off” back in July.

Despite saying his backing was no longer behind Trump, he added: “Trump is the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation.”
