Leilani Dowding says she left Real Housewives after clashing with co-stars

Former Page 3 girl Leilani Dowding said she left The Real Housewives of Cheshire to find a ‘drama free’ life after clashing with co-stars.

Speaking to the Daily Star Online, the 40-year-old ex-model also told how producers of the hit ITVBe show have left the door open for her return.

She said: “I stand up for what I believe in, even if it goes against the grain which it did with a lot of the women in Cheshire, I don’t share a lot of the same opinions and it caused a lot of conflicts.”

Leilani joined the cast of Cheshire’s most glamorous women in season 11 after arriving at the Golden Triangle following years of living in Los Angeles.

Keen showjumper Leilani made the move across the pond with fiancé, The Cult rock legend Billy Duffy who wanted to spend more time closer to his family in Manchester.

Now, she has exclusively revealed to Daily Star Online why she chose to leave the show and opened up about the door being left open for her.

Despite living a drama-free life, Leilani said: “I went into it because Billy and I were planning to move to Cheshire.

“I thought it would be really fun, I thought it was going to be about my real life and thought it would be good to show that side of me.”

“I just didn’t realise how much drama would be brought into my life,” she continued.

Speaking about her choice to wave goodbye to her Cheshire lifestyle, she added: “The time was just really bad, we still hadn’t found a house by the end of filming and I know a lot of it revolves around the home of the housewives.

ITVBe bosses have left the “door open” for Leilani to return to Real Housewives, should she wish to

“We just hadn’t got the house and that’s such a big part of it being able to film in your house.

“Now we’ve found a new house, it’s too late now but they’ve already done another season.”

However, she later revealed that ITVBe bosses had left the door open for her to return, should she wish too.

“They’ve said I can come back at any time, they’ve left the door open and said ‘keep in touch’ but I just love a drama-free life.”

Leilani became engaged to Billy at the start of the coronavirus lockdown but revealed that she is enjoying “finally having a ring” on her finger.

The former Royal Holloway College student left the prestigious university where she was studying Economics in order to compete in beauty pageants.

“I wanted to be a trader, which I’m glad I didn’t, I left when I won Miss Great Britain.”

Not one to be afraid of speaking out, Leilani recently took to her social media to question the current lockdown and coronavirus situation.

She told us: “Right at the start of this, I scared myself, I had insomnia, I was stressed, I was having chest pains from anxiety and I actually thought I had Covid because there were times when I couldn’t breathe.”

Hitting out at Love Island stars who recently came under fire for promoting the test and trace, she added: “What are they going to do? Start paying people to show them getting vaccines in their arms?

“I don’t trust any of it now, they’re getting paid, I don’t know whether it’s taxpayers money but they’re absolute sell-outs. If the Love Island lot are doing something, I’m doing the absolute opposite.
