It is a simple image but says so much about rock and roll in 1990s Britain.
Pop legends Liam Gallagher and Damon Albarn go eyeball-to-eyeball as a crowd of adoring fans look on.
The Oasis frontman, dressed in a trademark bucket hat, is seen leaning into his southern rival with a stern look on his face.
With his shaggy hair falling on his long sleeved shirt, the Wonderwall singer appears ready to go for Damon – either with a cutting remark or a rough challenge.
But with an equally ludicrous hat on his head, Blur Damon stands up to Liam and refuses to back down.

While it is a scene that could have come at any of the raucous awards shows the two warring bands, the image in fact was taken at a charity football match in 1996.
The two bands had been at each other’s throats for months as the feud played out in the press and then they came together on the football pitch at Mile End stadium in east London.
And as it turns out, the two superstars had a surprise in stall for those watching from the stands as they came out hand in hand – before joker Liam pulled Damon’s shorts down.
In video footage of the game a fiery Liam can also be seen squaring up to both Damon and fellow chart-topper Robbie Williams.

Never one to mince his words, Robbie can be seen bluntly telling Liam to “F*** off”.
In the end, neither band ended up winners as rockers Reef won the final
11 years on, while Liam had appeared to bury the hatchet, or at least quieten down about the feud, it reared its head in 2017.
In a typically cutting attack, Liam took to Twitter to mock Damon.
Letting rip, the Oasis legend accused the Blur star of “turning Noel into a massive girl”.

Lashing his acid tongue, Liam vented: “Now that d*** out of Blur and the creepy one out of Oasis need to hang their heads in shame as it’s no ‘Dancing In The Streets’ – as you were.
“That gobs**** out of Blur might have turned Noel Gallagher into a massive girl but believe you me, next time I see him there’s gonna be war.”
Despite their never-ending feud Blur vs Oasis seemingly helped both bands in achieving chart-topping success.
After being set up for a chart battle Oasis went on to break records around the world with their second album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) and Blur also topped the charts the same year with their The Great Escape album.
