Line of Duty's Martin Compston talks 'massive bombshell' in series six

Line of Duty star Martin Compton has teased fans of the hit BBC show by opening up about the upcoming sixth series.

The TV star appeared on The One Show via video link from Las Vegas to talk about the programme.

Teasing what’s in the pipeline, Martin, who plays Steve Arnott, said: “We have a definite date that we are working towards but there is no point in announcing it as the situation is so fluid and it can change.

“Hopefully we can get it done before Christmas.”

When asked if the show will be switched up to cope with the ongoing pandemic, Martin replied: “There are going to be massive changes off camera in terms of the protocols and social distancing and how many people can be on set.

“It’s going to be a completely different feel.

“If there are changes that are possible where moving scenes outdoors from indoors but we really wouldn’t want to compromise the script.

“The scripts are so good and people are so loyal to the show.

“There would be no point in coming back if we were going to compromise the scripts.”

Dropping a major hint about the upcoming plot, the star added: “There is a massive bombshell at the end of episode four.

“I’ve not read episode five yet… I’ve not got the script.”

Series six of Line of Duty was initially set to air in 2020 however due to Covid-19 it’s not expected to be on TV until 2021.

To help fill the void the BBC are currently airing the first series of the show.
