Lorraine Kelly fumes over Covid-19 protests as she discusses Kate Garraway hell

Lorraine Kelly has called on “irresponsible” Covid-19 protestors to stop denying the dangers of the virus and speak to Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway about the horror the virus can cause.

The ITV veteran used her Monday show to beg members of the public to see sense after anti-lockdown protests took place in London at the weekend.

Chatting to TV doc Dr Hilary about the coronavirus pandemic protests in London over the weekend, Lorraine fumed: “It’s ridiculous.

“Maybe they should get Kate Garraway to talk to them to understand about the hell she has been though.

“It’s so irresponsible. I don’t know what they are thinking.”

Lorraine, 60, added: “Some of the banners up there even mentioned [footballer] David Icke… what is going on?

“It is insane.”

Agreeing, Dr Hilary added: “Most people obeyed the guidelines but others don’t seem to care.

“But what can you do in a democracy… if it was in China or Russia it would be a different story.”

Lorraine interjected: “But we do not want to go down that road but we want to appeal to that common sense.”

Referencing students locked in halls up and down the country by universities, the ITV host added: “I feel so sorry for them.. it must be so difficult it really is.

“It will get better… it has to.”

Kate, 53, has been through hell after her husband Derek was hospitalised with Covid back in March.

In a bid to help him fight the virus doctors put him in a medically induced coma.

While he is now coronavirus-free, the virus has wreaked havoc on his body and he is still in hospital.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine recently, Kate said: “I have been living at the end of the phone 24/7, waiting for news of Derek.

“But the doctors have warned that his condition could persist for years so I have to get on with life while we are waiting for him to get better.

“My priority is to make the children feel safe, to not let them see me feeling vulnerable in a world where Derek was my rock.”

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
