Love Island's Anna Vakili says she 'acted in self-defence' after brutal brawl

Love Island’s Anna Vakili has taken to Instagram to release a statement confirming that she “acted in self-defence” after being involved in a vicious fight.

Anna, 29, sister Mandi, her boyfriend and her cousin took to Hyde Park London to lap up some sunshine and ice creams this week, although the lovely day out didn’t quite go to plan.

The star found herself in a heated brawl where she was captured dragging a girl to the ground by her hair in a social media video.

At that point, Anna’s sister Mandi then came into view, kicking the girl on the floor in the head.

In the lengthy statement, Anna said: “I have never been in a physical fight in my life.”

The TV starlet claimed that the group of “drug users” had set upon her younger cousin, “leaving her bleeding,” which Anna alleged gave her no choice but to step in and intervene.

Anna, who is also a pharmacist, took to Instagram to share a lengthy post outlining the ridicule that she had faced on a regular basis since entering ITV’s hit dating show.

Speaking out about the ordeal, she said: “Since coming out of Love Island, it’s become my normal for people to shout abuse at me in the streets and I have learned to turn a blind eye and remove myself from the situation.

“Yesterday, I was having a picnic in the park with my sister, boyfriend and cousin when we were subjected to continuous verbal abuse from a group who came near us who were doing drugs.”

The ITV reality personality added: “Wanting to remove ourselves away from them, we packed up to leave, they came over and swung at my cousin and threw her by her hair, leaving her bleeding.

“Out of self-defence we had to get them off of her and leave”

Anna shot to fame in 2019, after she had appeared on the hit reality show Love Island.

On the series, she found herself caught in the middle of a love triangle between Ovie Soko and Jordon Hames.

She opted for Jordon but things didn’t plan out as she’d hoped, and the couple called it a day.

Last month, Anna returned to her job former career as a pharmacist due to the global coronavirus pandemic, saying “it felt wrong not to”.

Daily Star Online has contacted Anna’s representatives for comment.
