Mariah Carey was very 'uncomfortable' after Ellen DeGeneres' pregnancy trick

Mariah Carey has spoke out after she was backed into a corner on The Ellen DeGeneres show, giving her no option other than to expose her pregnancy.

Thinking back, to the televised moment from 2008, the 50-year-old recalls feeling “extremely unconformable” during the awkward interview.

The songstress wasn’t ready to discuss her pregnancy but was left with no choice after Ellen “forced” her into it.

At the time, the award winning singer was rumoured to be expecting a baby with ex Nick Cannon, with the pair having tied the knot only seven months prior to her appearing on the Ellen Show.

Maria was not yet ready to discuss her situation but was handed an alcoholic beverage to “toast to not being pregnant” by chatty host Ellen.

Trying to politely refuse the gesture Mariah quipped that it was too early for drink.

Before Mariah had an opportunity to conjure up a believable alibi, Ellen was already shrieking with delight that she was expecting, along with a roaring audience.

Weeks after the interview – and being forced to share her news – the Always Be My Baby hitmaker suffered a miscarriage.

After some serious reflection, Carey told Vulture she was left feeling “extremely uncomfortable” after Ellen had pressured her to sip champagne as a test.

She said: “I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say.

“And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath.”

Mariah continued: “I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage.

“I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.”

Meanwhile The Ellen Show has made slashed headlines recently after “toxic work culture” claims were aired, leading to Warner Bros launching an internal investigation.

The serious reports alleged that employees had even suffered “racism, fear and intimidation” behind the scenes.
