Dancing On Ice’s Alexander Demetriou has confirmed he has separated from his wife of four years Carlotta Edwards – just weeks after the pair were reported to be “taking a break”.
Taking to Instagram, the 28-year-old revealed the pair decided to part ways because it was “best” for both parties.
He wrote: “I’m sorry I have been quiet on social media recently but it’s been a tough time for me personally,” he began in a statement.
“Carlotta and I have separated. Although it saddens me that we can no longer be together, I feel this is best for both of us.”

He added: “I’m looking forward to what the future will bring but in the meantime let’s all say home and stay safe. Alex xx.”
Carlotta, 30, who also appears on Dancing on Ice, has yet to comment on the marriage split, but has returned to her native Calgary to self-isolate with her family.
Their relationship reportedly hit a bump in the road after Alex grew close to his celebrity skating partner – Love Island star Maura Higgins – during the last series.

Maura previously opened up about her relationship with Alex following their stint on the popular ITV show, but insisted despite their closeness they’re just friends.
“Alex and I are so close – we’ve trained together for months.
“Obviously, we’re going to be close, exactly like every other partner on the show. But that’s it. We’re very close friends and we get on well,” she told The Sun.

The split comes a month after Carlotta posted a loved-up snap of herself alongside her now estranged husband.
Resting her hand on his chest, the brunette bombshell gushed about Alex’s routine, writing: “Love this one so much. Can’t wait for you guys to see the voting window routine. It’s truly magical.”
