Maya Jama has candidly opened up about learning to love and accept herself after splitting with superstar rapper Stormzy.
Despite Stormzy previously speaking frankly about the break-up and insisting he wanted to get back with the BBC bombshell, Maya had always kept quiet on the subject.
Opening up for the first time, Maya said: “When someone loves themselves, and seems fully open and accepting with themselves, people don’t like to see it.
“Constantly, society is pushing the message of, ‘Love yourself! But, actually, not like that. Do it differently’”.

She added to Rollacoaster magazine: “I think, now, I’m pretty sure I love myself, and I’m happy with where I am.”
Maya and Stormzy were together for four years before splitting in August last year.
Despite keeping quiet at the time, Stormzy later admitted he had “done the dirt” during the relationship.

Speaking to fellow rapper Charlamagne tha God on YouTube, Stormzy said: “She’s [Maya’s] a f****** G, bro.
“I love her wholeheartedly. I’ve never loved anyone how I’ve loved her.”
Admitting he hoped they would reconcile in the near future, Stormzy added: “I would love for that to happen but I don’t know.
“I would love to be the man who she needs, I would love to do all the things that make this work.

“I want to marry her, I want to have her children.
“I was pacing around my kitchen, I was pacing up and down for days thinking… f**** sake bruv… this one reckless night.
“You… all of those things brother; marriage, kids, the love of my life.
“You have put all of those things at [risk], and now look you probably won’t ever… you’ve lost that. You know what I mean? You’ve lost that.”
