Phil Schofield opens up as he shares his 'disappointment' after lockdown cycle

Phillip Schofield has been using lockdown to enjoy some bike rides in the countryside.

He’s been giving his fans updates on his cycling exploits on Instagram – and told on Monday how he racked up an impressive 30km between Saturday and Sunday.

But Phil was left feeling downbeat after his latest cycling trip this evening and revealed to his Instagram fans that he only racked up 24km on his last ride.

The This Morning presenter was seen in one one clip, claiming that he was half way round his “longest route so far” and expected “if his maths was any good” to do about “30k”.

Schofe then posted another update as he sat on his bike, saying: “I did say my maths was s**** and I think that has turned out to be about 24k. I am a little bit disappointed. However, progress to be made and I have to work on that route. It’s not bad though.”

During his ride earlier this week, Phil shared a video showing beautiful open countryside on his route.

He said: “Definitely getting used to this,” as he panned the camera around to show lush green fields, adding: “How pretty is that? No one around. Gorgeous.”

He then added: “Well, if lockdown has done anything, it’s made me appreciate this.”

He was then seen in another clip sipping a gin and tonic and said: “Does this undo all the hard work?” he asked, before cheekily adding: “Don’t care!”

Phil and Holly Willoughby were left frustrated on This Morning today as Alison Hammond did a segment for the latest kitchen gadgets during lockdown.

As the show ran out of time, Phillip repeatedly told Alison she only had a few seconds to wrap things up, but she appeared to not be able to hear him.
