Piers Morgan calls David Walliams 'duplicitous and treacherous' in savage swipe

Piers Morgan has told of his dislike for David Walliams and said he refused to return to Britain’s Got Talent because of the comic.

The Good Morning Britain host, 55, previously revealed he was asked to return to the talent competition this year to work as a stand-in judge on the semi-finals.

But he said David put him off a return, branding the funnyman as a “treacherous piece of work”.

Piers told The Sunday Mirror: “I do have conversations with BGT every now and again, particularly after Simon had his injury.

“But I couldn’t work with Walliams. I think he is a duplicitous, treacherous, piece of work.”

He added: “He is one of those people who says one thing to your face and then sticks it to you behind your back. “

Piers said if David “was sitting there” he “wouldn’t be interested” in joining the show, adding: “If he wasn’t sitting there, who knows?”

The outspoken GMB star – who was a judge on BGT from 2007 to 2011 – even joked he would like to be the one to sack David from the panel.

He said he would return to BGT if the “money is right” and if it is guaranteed that “Walliams gets fired”.

There has been bad blood between the pair since Piers found a series of nasty tweets about him that David had “liked”.

Piers previously said David made his “skin crawl”.

In September, it was claimed David was not happy over rumours that Piers was set to replace Simon during the final rounds of BGT 2020.

Simon was forced to step back from the show after breaking his back during a fall off an electric bike, and he has since been recovering at home in Los Angeles.

At the time, Piers claimed that he was approached to fill in for Simon on the panel but had turned it down because of his feud with David.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: “I heard that David threw his toys out of the pram.

“Imagine David and Piers sitting on either end of that judging panel – what great TV it would have been.”

Piers sparked rumours about their feud in his column for the Mail, writing: “I was quickly sounded out to see if I was potentially available but had to explain that if I was confined to the same close quarters as that insufferable twerp David Walliams, it wouldn’t end well.”

David Walliams has been contacted by Daily Star Online for comment.
