Rapper Megan Thee Stallion says she was shot and is 'grateful to be alive'

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion claims she was shot over the weekend.

The popular rap artist, who topped the charts with hit Savage, took to her Instagram page to address the alleged incident with her 12.5million followers.

Megan, 25, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, posted a lengthy message in which she said she was “lucky to be alive”.

The message read: “On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.

“I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets.

“I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this tragic night.”

She concluded: “I’m currentlyy focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.”

Megan captioned the post: “I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy.”

Megan has collaborated with Beyonce in the past and has won a string of awards including two BET Awards, two BET Hip Hop Awards, a MTV Video Music Award, and a Billboard Women in Music Award.
