Ruth Langsford speaks out as she & Eamonn have to defend This Morning behaviour

This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford has spoken out after she and Eamonn Holmes came under fire for not social distancing on the show’s episode on Friday.

The pair were forced to defend themselves as viewers took to social media to point out that they were breaking the government’s coronavirus guidelines, and weren’t sitting two metres apart.

Eamonn pointed out to viewers that the rule doesn’t apply to people in the same household, and as they are married, they don’t need to social distance.

Ruth has since taken ton social media where she told fans about life under lockdown, sharing a video of her walking through the woods with her pet dog Maggie.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Good morning! Keep the smile on!”

Wearing a pair of sunglasses, she said to her fans: “Morning! We’re out for our walk. Another beautiful day – look at that sky – but it’s very cold.

“Very cold today. Anyway, hope you’re doing OK, staying safe, staying in just apart from your exercise. Speak soon.”

She then shared a snap of Maggie on her lead walking through the park, clearly not letting the backlash get to her as she took her dog for her daily walk.

Ruth added: “We are going to be so fit.”

She recently admitted that the coverage of coronavirus has been making her feel anxious, especially as she couldn’t hug her beloved mum on Mother’s Day.

Ruth said on This Morning on Friday: “When you’re at home it feels like a nice break from work at the moment. Then you remember why you’re at home and not at work.

“I think, ‘I’ll have a look at the news and see whats happening. It’s important to be informed’.

“Then you hear of the deaths and it makes me very anxious and scared. It’s trying to balance.”

This Morning continues tomorrow at 10am on ITV.
