Sam Thompson has broken his silence following his split from Zara McDermott, hinting he has been going through a tough time in recent days.
Earlier this week it emerged the Made In Chelsea lovebirds, who moved in together during the lockdown, had split last month.
Former Love Island star Zara has continued to share Instagram outfit pics since the split, but Sam’s online presence remained silent.
Finally speaking out this evening, the reality star appeared to reference the break-up, as he thanked his nearest and dearest for helping him while he was “down”.
Sharing a photo of himself and TOWIE star Pete Wicks, he wrote: “Thank you so much for putting up with me for the past week @p_wicks01
“I’m incredibly lucky to have people I can lean on when I’m down.
“I know you’re not the soppy type, but you really are the brother I never had.”
Referencing the aging filter he had used on Pete’s face, he added: “I love you mate #WEGOAGAIN good to see I havnt aged you over the past 6 days.”
Sam’s sister Louise Thompson, who also carved out a career as a castmember on MIC, showed her support by adding laughter emojis under the post.
The former flames started dating last year, after Zara slid into Sam’s DMs and got the ball rolling.
Sam and Zara charted their relationship on the latest season of Made In Chelsea, with their explosive blowout featuring in the series finale.
However, after filming wrapped, the lovebirds moved into Sam’s Chelsea pad during the lockdown, regularly sharing gushy posts about one another.

Sam even hinted he would propose to Zara, while chatting with his former Celebs Go Dating coach Paul Carrick Brunson.
A source told the Mail Online that they broke up towards the end of last month, adding: “They had been arguing a lot since moving in together as a result of lockdown and things just built up between them.
“Zara has moved back to her parents’ house in Essex where she’s taking some time for herself, she really loved Sam so this hasn’t been easy for her.
“Sam has gone away to have a break from it all and clear his head away from Zara and social media.”
