Strictly 'ramps up security after Dianne Buswell receives sinister threats'

Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell has been sent threatening messages by trolls, it is claimed.

Dianne was allegedly sent sickening tweets which accused her of cheating on her boyfriend Joe Sugg with her celebrity dance partner Max George.

According to The Sun, worried bosses at the BBC show have now ramped up security after Dianne was sent the vile messages .

Bosses have monitored the tweets sent to The Aussie redhead, 31, which came from a number of accounts, and alerted the show’s security staff, it is claimed.

One troll claimed to be at the apartment block where Dianne and The Wanted singer, 32, are staying during the series.

The message, which has since been deleted, allegedly ended with the words: “This will be the end for Dianne.”

A source reportedly told the publication: “This was truly chilling — because someone claimed to be waiting for Dianne at a certain address. That triggered a security alert and obviously had to be taken seriously.

“Producers have taken action, along with security teams, and reassured the cast that their safety is paramount.

“Strictly rightly take the safety of their stars very seriously, and felt the move was warranted. They would rather be over-cautious than not react to things. Fortunately, Dianne is a really positive person and has a tough skin so focused her efforts on her first live dance with Max.”

Having been a beloved pro dancer on the show for the past three years, the source also said Dianne “wants to enjoy the show” and “ignore any negativity”.

The source added there is a strong security presence at the studios in Elstree where the show is filmed – even with “less people coming and going due to the Covid restrictions”.

Dianne Buswell has been contacted by Daily Star Online for comment.

A representative for Strictly declined to comment.

Max praise his dance partner on Instagram last night following their first live performance together on the show.

The singer posted a selfie of himself and Dianne, and added the caption: “MASSIVE thank you to @diannebuswell for teaching me to TANGO…

“Not gonna lie it was extremely nerve wracking.. (and yes Dianne I missed a lot of steps!).. but can’t wait for next week whatever that brings.. thanks again matey!!!”

This isn’t the first time a Strictly star has been hit by apparent trolling – judge Shirley Ballas told last year she was worried about sending contestants home after witnessing the backlash to eliminations.

The 59-year-old was targeted by cruel online trolls after an episode aired on Sunday, October 13, which saw contestant Dev Griffin head home with his dance partner Dianne.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio Two breakfast show, the Strictly star revealed it’s becoming harder than ever to eliminate the contestants.

She said: “The series started off as one of the best we’ve ever hard. What I’ve found is the work ethic is off the chart.

“There isn’t anybody who wants to go home.”

She added: “It’s going to be very difficult from here on in to send anybody home. It gets emotional. And people get upset when you have to send somebody home.”
