The Chase contestant slammed by viewers as she 'patronises' fellow players

The Chase contestant Heather was criticised by some viewers on tonight’s programme as she “patronised” two of her fellow contestants.

Heather, who is a retired police officer from Scotland, called her fellow players Tom and Harriet “children”.

It came after contestant Wyn was weighing up with host Bradley Walsh whether or not to go for the high offer, as he went head-to-head with Shaun Wallace.

Trying to encourage Wyn to go for the big money, Heather tried to reason that he should definitely go for it as Tom and Harriet are already through and they’re “children”.

This prompted Harriet, who was sat next to Heather, to respond with her mouth open-wide as she was seemingly taken aback by Heather’s remark.

The Chase’s Heather annoyed some viewers

And she wasn’t the only one, as viewers took to Twitter in their droves to comment on Heather’s cutting comment.

One social networker said: “Heather was very patronising there calling them children.

“Honestly, really??”

While another continued: “Heather really doesn’t rate those two, does she?”

And it appears that the tension spilled out into Heather’s turn too.

Heather’s comments didn’t go down well with viewers

While Heather was debating which monetary offer she should go for, a rather blunt Harriet told her: “Don’t you dare go for the lower offer.”

Heather then confirmed to Bradley she was going to opt for the middle offer following Harriet’s warning.

She joked: “I’m going to go for the middle because I’m scared of Harriet.”

Heather added: “She’s got it in for me.”

Heather branded Harriet and Tom ‘children’

Luckily for Heather, she got through to the final chase, seeing her join Tom, Harriet and Wyn, meaning it was a full house.

The foursome netted an impressive 21 steps in their head-to-head round against Shaun Wallace.

Shaun put on an impressive performance, but came up short, only bagging 18 steps.

This saw the team take home £5,500 each, meaning Heather and Tom could both spend the money on travelling, Wyn could shower his wife in Ferrero Rochers and Harriet was going to put the money towards time studying at The Juilliard School in New York.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
