The Chase viewers divided after player makes controversial prize fund decision

Many The Chase fans were not happy after a player on Friday’s episode chose to take the minus offer.

It was a Sally-Ann’s turn to take on chaser Paul Sinha, and after her teammate Omer took the high offer, they both had £40,000 in the prize fund.

Paul gave her an offer of minus £10,000, and as there was just two of them left, they both decided it would be best to take it and play for £30,000.

The Chase viewers were completely split over whether she had made the right choice, with many furious that she had taken the minus offer.

One raged: “FFS! Sally-Ann takes the minus offer AND she’s through!”

While another wrote: “-£10’000 what a liberty!!”

A third added: “Absolutely raging at #TheChase, who takes minus 10,000?”

Others thought Sally-Ann had made a sensible decision, rushing to her defence.

A Twitter user penned: “Sally-Ann did the right thing…yeah I said it.”

Another said: “Don’t know why everyone’s so angry. What would you rather win, £15k or £0. She clearly hasn’t the breadth of knowledge to go high; Omer knew he can’t win it alone, hence told her to go low.

“Tactically it was the right choice.”

“I still don’t get why people on here go crazy at people taking the low offer.

“Tactically it can make sense. As far as I know there’s only been about 30 times a solo player has ever won so going low to make sure you get back totally boosts your chances”, insisted another The Chase fan.

Sally-Ann seemingly made the right choice, as she did in fact make it through the the last round of the show.

However, the team of two only managed to gain an 11 step lead, and Paul beat them after a tense final chase.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
