The Million Pound Cube viewers 'cringe' as brothers argue in tense moment

Television presenter Phillip Schofield returned to our screens on Monday night to host The Million Pound Cube.

The stakes were higher than ever before as contestants attempted seemingly simple tasks inside the iconic perspex box.

The object of the game is to complete a series of challenges from within the 4m x 4m box, for a chance to win a life-changing £1 million.

Each contestant has nine lives, and when they make an unsuccessful attempt, one life is lost.

Brothers Adam and John were the first pair of contestants to take on The Cube during the debut instalment of the latest series of the intense ITV game show.

John managed to complete the first challenge on his own and he played with his younger sibling Adam in the second game.

However, as tensions rose and the intensity hit fever pitch, the contestants turned on one another which led Phillip, 58, to intervene as he sent the programme to an advertisement break.

The siblings squabbled their way through the challenges and ended up losing multiple lives during one simple task of placing balls into a cylinder, on account of their miscommunication.

Viewers at home took to Twitter to discuss the brothers’ performance on the show as Adam lost his temper with his older brother John.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Brothers squabbling in front of an audience is it good TV or cringe?”

Another ranted: “The younger brother is so blatantly acting up for the cameras thinking people will find it funny…but he’s actually coming off as a complete idiot. His poor brother!”

A third moaned: “This bickering is too much.”

While a fourth said: “Sore loser younger brother needlessly humiliating his sibling on #TheMillionPoundCube is my cue to go shower!”

A fifth raged: “Oh wow, I liked the brothers. The younger one was an excitable cutie and the oldest was level headed.

“Good on them for thinking about the overall picture rather than showing face.”

Adam and John ended up walking away from the show with £10,000.

The brothers decided that they were not confident to continues on the game show and decided to play it safe and take the money.
