Unsolved Mysteries explores the death of Jennifer Fairgate– but who was she?

Netflix has finally dropped another season of Unsolved Mysteries for us to obsess over.

Episode two, titled A Death In Oslo, explores the unexplained death of a woman at the Plaza Hotel in Norway’s capital in 1995.

The mysterious woman, who was found with a gunshot wound to the head on June 3, has to this day never been identified.

Her death was ruled a suicide, but there were many things that didn’t add up.

For starters, all the labels were cut off her clothes, and no one had reported the young, elegant woman missing. She was also carrying 34 rounds of ammunition.

And perhaps most curiously of all, she checked in under a false name – Jennifer Fairgate – so who was she?

Who was Jennifer Fairgate?

The mysterious woman registered with the name Jennifer Fairgate – which she twice signed “Fergate”.

She shared a room with a man whose name she put down as Lois Fairgate – but he was nowhere to be seen.

The woman who called herself Jennifer had claimed she was 21, but forensic pathologist believed she was 30, give or take five years.

Her eyes were blue, and her hair was dark and short. She weighed 10.55st and was 5ft 2in tall.

The woman also known as the Plaza woman’s fingerprints did not match any in the Interpol database.

She also had expensive dental work with gold and porcelain, which were widely used in the US, and some European countries such as the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.

When she was found dead on her bed, shot through the forehead, the labels on her clothes were removed.

Police found no passport, no wallet, money, credit card or anything of the sort.

She didn’t even have toiletries or make-up – just a bottle of perfume that was almost empty.

Jennifer Fairgate was never reported missing

Still to this day no-one really knows who the Plaza woman is.

However, the police had a variety of theories, including a woman who worked for a secret intelligence service.

Another theory was that she was part of a major drug operation gone wrong.

Or she could have been a high-end prostitute who operated in luxury hotels.
