Zayn Malik fans once again proved they’re unstoppable after rallying together to remove a song from Spotify.
The former One Direction singer was linked to a track named Zayn Did 9/11, which was released onto the online streaming service in 2017.
Recorded by a parody account named Uma Kompton, the track made light of the horrific terror attack in America, which saw almost 3000 people killed at the World Trade Centre in New York, as well as an attack on the Pentagon in Washington.
It also takes aim at Malik, 27, who is a non-practising Muslim.
Since the track resurfaced, the trending topic #RemoveItForZayn instantly became a worldwide discussion on Twitter.
Fans hit out over the “disgusting” single, with one penning: “#removeitforzayn this is disgusting and Zayn does not deserve this. Report the song ‘Zayn did 9/11’ and email Spotify requesting removal.”
While a second added: “His faith affiliation, skin colour, or race does not equal terrorism. If you let a minority group of any racial/religious group dictate your view of the majority of said group, then you need to re-evaluate your world view.”

“What the hell is going on? How can they target Zayn like that? We need to #removeitforzayn,” penned a third.
A spokesperson for Spotify told Mirror Online that content that promotes hatred or violence to an individual or group is removed from the site.
“Spotify prohibits content on the platform which expressly and principally promotes, advocates, or incites hatred or violence against a group or individual based on characteristics including race, religion, gender identity, sex, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, veteran status or disability.

“When content that violates this standard is identified it is removed from the platform.”
It’s believed that Zayn’s former One Direction bandmates could be reuniting as the mega-group prepare to celebrate their tenth anniversary.
A spokesperson for the group said: “July 23rd marks a very important date for One Direction fans globally, the 10th Anniversary of the band’s formation.

“To celebrate this date, alongside the fan frenzy, there will be a brand new 1D anniversary website, a 10-year celebration video especially made for their fans, and interactive playlists and activations across digital platforms.”
However, it is unclear if Malik will join in the celebrations after he left the group in 2015 during a world tour.
