AJ Pritchard has confirmed his girlfriend Abbie Quinnen has achieved an “absolute massive milestone” in her recovery from serious burns.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star, 26, appeared on today’s episode (August 26) of This Morning alongside his brother Curtis, 25, where he revealed that Abbie went out without her “silicone sheets and pressure garments” for the first time this week.
The 23-year-old dancer suffered horrendous burns following an incident in January which saw her become engulfed in flames after she and AJ attempted to cut a wine bottle in half to make a vase.
“She’s doing really well,” AJ said on the programme.
“Actually last night was an absolute massive milestone as it was the first evening that she went out and didn’t wear her silicone sheets and pressure garments, so she’s been wearing that for six months, 24 hours a day.”
He added: “We do scar massage four times a day to reduce any scar tissue building, so we’re trying to treat it as soon as possible to not allow the scars to mature and kind of grow and rise up.”
Asked by Curtis about Abbie’s ‘full 24 hour care routine’, AJ replied: “We just sit there each morning and night and just go through rubbing the skin to stop any scars from forming.

“It’s a long process and obviously, physically and mentally is a whole other side we take seriously.
“Yeah, she’s doing well.”
Abbie was rushed to hospital by Curtis and AJ after her hair and skin caught fire following the explosion of a wine bottle after Abbie and AJ attempted to copy a popular YouTube stunt.
Speaking previously of the life-changing incident, Abbie told The Sun: “The first thing I said to AJ was, ‘Is my face going to be OK? Are you still going to love me?’
“I kept repeating this to him and I was shaking in horror.
She added: “It was such a shock, I was panicking and screaming. I dropped down to the floor and I was rolling to try to put out the fire. I saw my life flash before my eyes.”
AJ and Curtis appeared on the ITV daytime show to promote their forthcoming joint pantomime appearance.
