Ant and Dec drop hint that I'm A Celebrity could be set to stay in Wales

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly say producers are still trying to get I’m A Celebrity back in the Bush – but accept the show could return to Wales.

The Geordie duo were chatting on Lorraine as they urged Piers Morgan to sign up for the next series.

Fans of I’m A Celebrity are waiting to hear if the ITV show will be back in Australia later this year, or if other plans will have to be made due to Covid restrictions.

The 2020 series was filmed in the ruins of Gwrych Castle but bosses are said to be keen to return to down under.

But Dec said: “It’s still very up in the air at the minute.

“People are having conversations with Australia to see if they will let us in, to see if that’s going to work.

“If not, we have a lovely alternative to go back to Wales, last year we had a great time there.

“We had a really lovely series and they made us so welcome – we would gladly go back there.”

Lorraine said: “I really enjoyed Wales, it worked so well.”

Ant added: “All the celebs in the camp loved it, we would be happy to go back to Wales.”

Earlier, Lorraine asked if they would still like out-of-work Piers to appear.

Ant said: “Well, he’s not working at the moment – he’ll be looking for a job!”

Lorraine chipped in: “I think he would be amazing in the jungle!”

We await to see if former GMB star Piers is up for the challenge of a stint in the camp.

But Paul Gascoigne has said he would be open to appearing on I’m A Celebrity following his star turn on an Italian reality show.

The football legend had to be airlifted out of L’Isola dei Famosi, which is filmed in Honduras after dislocating his shoulder during a challenge.

He said on Good Morning Britain: “I know Harry (Redknapp) did fantastic on there.

“Something like that is OK. I suffer a bit from claustrophobia and snakes, I’m not too scared of flying after the helicopter flying.

“I had a few interviews for that show.

“I think I took advantage of lockdown but I think I did two months in total of lockdown over here and then in Honduras and then in Mexico.

“That would be something I would look forward to doing, but I leave that to Katie, my manager.”

Ex-Tottenham star Gazza earned high praise for his stint on the Italian show.

He said, however, that he has been turned down for the UK version in years gone by but is now battling back to full health after a number of problems.
