BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood red-faced as she gets co-star's name wrong on air

BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood got embarrassed when she awkwardly forgot her colleague’s name on air.

The BBC weather girl had been presenting her live weather report when she confused her co-star Jon Kay with Strictly alum Dan Walker on camera – and she looked horrified at her mistake.

Carol had just been finishing off her segment, telling viewers all about what they could expect from the day, when she suffered the name-related blunder.

She said: “Temperatures picking up a little bit once again, especially so in the west. Dan and Sal.”

Carol’s face turned red when she realised her mistake, and she quickly tried to correct herself – but sadly it was too late as Jon and his co-star Sally Nugent had spotted the error.

She added: “Jon and Sal.”

Sally told her: “You’ve done it now.”

Carol was desperate to move on and forget the moment, saying:” Let’s pretend that didn’t happen. Jon and Sal.”

Jon reassured her: “Don’t worry, don’t worry, that’s fine.”

He added: “It’s her face, the horror. Thank you so much.”

In Carol’s defence, Jon had stepped in to replace Dan on the show that day, because Dan usually presents the show form Monday to Wednesday.

It’s not the first time Carol has forgotten her colleague’s name on the morning show.

Carol recently stumbled over her words when Dan Walker and Nina Warhurst were hosting the show.

At the end of her weather report, Carol had tried to hand back over to the hosts when she said: “So, if you haven’t got your big coat out yet Dan and…”

She then paused as she struggled to remember who Dan was presenting the show with, and she was forced to apologise afterwards.

Carol said: “Oh, Nina! Couldn’t remember who was on – sorry Nina.”

She added: “Nina, apologies I’m your biggest fan!”

Nina saw the funny side of the situation and remaarked that she wouldn’t take it personally.

Dan then teased her: “I thought you were my biggest fan?”

Carol laughed: “I’m your biggest fan too!”
