Dan Walker was left with egg on his face after he seemingly called his co-star Louise Minchin his wife.
The BBC Breakfast star, 44, accidentally made a slip of the tongue when addressing his on-screen partner as “Louise Walker”.
Trying to make humour of his earlier mistake, he said: “Good morning, you’re watching breakfast with Louise and Dan and just to confirm not married.
“Okay, just in case.”
Poking fun at her co-host, TV star Louise, 52, quipped: “Yes we are both separately married but there has been no secret wedding here.
“The thing is, if you were watching at eight, Dan by mistake called me ‘Louise Walker’, I am not.”
In response, Dan joked: “Sorry i’ve got a very small brain and it’s very easy to get confused.”
As ever, fans were quick to spot the error and took to their keyboards to chime about Dan’s blunder.
One online user joked: “Yes. Best to wait until everything opens up again so you can have a big ceremony.”
Another said: “@mrdanwalker @louiseminchin @BBCBreakfast It was very funny.”
A third added: “I’ll get my hat lol.”
Meanwhile, others didn’t seem to find the stint that funny.
“@BBCBreakfast Married/not married – not that interesting or funny. Focus on news please,” barked one person.
After social media had become alive with buzzing commentary about Dan’s hilarious mistake, he decided to address the situation.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Just to confirm… I do love working with @louiseminchin but we are not married… despite what I said on #BBCBreakfast this morning #MrAndMrsWalker.”
The TV presenter has been married to his actual wife Sarah since 2001.
Sarah and Dan who live in Sheffield together share three children, Joe, Jessica and Susie.
