Tipping Point turned into chaos as host Ben Shephard fell about laughing when comedian Tom Allen joked he would be keeping the charity money.
The 46-year-old presenter couldn’t control his giggles as the winner of the 2005 So You Think You’re Funny contest made the hilarious quip.
As usual, Ben turned to the star to ask: “Now the charity is going to get £20,000 which is really exciting”
Tom responded: “The what?”
The Good Morning Britain star roared with laughter as Tom interjected: “No I’m joking.”
Tom explained he would be giving the large sum of cash to St Christopher’s Hospice in South London.
The British comedian had played a blinding game against radio DJ Melvin Odoom and Coronation Street’s Patti Clare.
Initially it had been touch-and-go if Tom would even make it past the first round.
He had one counter remaining and needed just one more coin to knock contestant Patti out of the race – and he managed to do just that.
Radio DJ Melvin had a strong lead with £2,500 in his bank which meant that Tom needed to do some catching up if he were to have a chance at winning the jackpot for his charity.
It seemed as though the odds were stacked against the comedian initially but the questions just didn’t seem to go in Melvin’s favour and Tom quickly made up for lost time.
Before fans knew it, Tom and Melvin were level-pegging both with £2,500 nestled in their banks.
But it was Tom who managed to take the lead and knocked his opponent out of the race.
Melvin was a good sport though and even helped Tom to place his final counter in drop zone two – which saw him land a significant amount of cash-winning counters.
Going into the final round, Tom kept his head in the game and finally managed to nudge the mighty Jackpot counter.
On his last attempt, he placed his final coin in the right zone and eventually shoved the £20,000 silver coin over the edge – winning the huge sum for charity.
