Britney Spears says she 'cried' after Lady Gaga hailed her an 'inspiration'

Lady Gaga’s recent comments about Britney Spears reduced the singer to tears after recently gushing over her.

During the premiere of her latest film, House of Gucci, Gaga was asked about the end of Britney’s 13-year-long conservatorship and she couldn’t contain her joy.

The Bad Romance singer, 35, said: “She’s a woman in this business that showed a lot of power in her sexuality, even in her youth, in a way that for me as a young woman was just so inspiring and empowering and I’d like to say this, truly, we can all root for her, but the person that changed her life, was her.

“So this change that’s happening for her, it happened because of her, I’m excited for her future.”

Britney Spears recently said Lady Gaga made her “cry”

Shortly after seeing the clip shared by Entertainment Tonight, Britney took to her Instagram account to share her thanks.

The 39-year-old said: “Thank you @ladygaga for genuinely taking your time to say something so kind.

“You made me cry!!! I love you!!!”

Britney had been under the control of her father Jamie Spears and her co-conservators since her public breakdown in 2008.

A judge in Los Angeles terminated her conservatorship and allowed the star to regain control of her life and career including her estimated $60 million estate earlier this month.

The conservatorship had long angered the singer’s global fanbase, but the pressure to terminate the legal agreement only kicked in over the last 12 months.

Prior to 2020, the star had remained silent about her legal bindings, but the singer shared her grievances with the public after she gave a tearful testimony over the phone back in June.

She alleged the arrangement, which is usually issued for those who are seriously ill or elderly, was abusive and deprived her of many basic human rights including the right to get married and have more children.

Judge Brenda Penny ruled her legal restraints should come to an end after the superstar’s lawyer Matthew Rosengart asked the judge to end her conservatorship without a medical evaluation.

Judge Brenda Penny told the courtroom: “The conservatorship of the person and the estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated.”

The judge’s decision was the culmination of years of public and private legal wrangling from multiple parties who faced allegations that they did not have the singers best interests at heart.
