Christine McGuinness 'always wanted' Full Monty strip as cancer 'tore' family apart

Christine McGuinness has admitted she always wanted to take part in ITV’s Strictly The Real Full Monty because of her family history.

The Real Housewives Of Cheshire star opened up about how having so many close relatives who have suffered from cancer that she felt compelled to take part in an exclusive chat with Daily Star and other press.

Christine, 33, made the admission when she was asked how her comedian husband Paddy McGuinness felt about her taking part in the show.

She said: “Do you know what, I’ve been talking about this for years to him, he knows that this is something I always wanted to do.”

Christine then went on to explain how cancer tore her family apart when not just four of her aunties developed breast cancer, but her mum too.

She continued: “Four of my aunties had breast cancer and then last year when my mum got diagnosed, it was really like ‘God, wow, this is huge in my family.’ It’s so, so close to home, it tore us apart.

“As soon as it came in, the call, and I told him, he was made up for me because he knows that I wanted to, purely because of the reason because of my mum and my aunties.”

The reality TV star also admitted that taking part in the show isn’t without its challenges, as she joked about questioning her decision.

She said: “Now I’m here and I’m sort of dancing and there’s things to remember I’m like ‘do I really want to do this?'”

But the mum of three then confirmed she plans on giving it her all and is already having a lot of fun.

She added: “No I’m here and I’m really gonna go for it. We are laughing every day.”

Christine is joined by stars including Duncan James, James and Ola Jordan, and former Love Islanders Teddy Soares and Demi Jones on the show which aims to raise awareness of life-saving cancer checks.

Strictly The Full Monty is hosted by Ashley Banjo will air on ITV on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 December at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
