Coleen Nolan has felt like her family is “cursed” by cancer.
The Loose Women star, 56, lost her sister Bernie to the disease in 2013 while her other sisters Linda and Anne have recently been battling it.
Coleen said: “You almost feel like it’s a curse that’s been on you, but it’s not. So many families go through this.
“But it’s hard because it’s cancer. Losing Bernie was just catastrophic in our family. She was the life and soul of our family.
“We all pulled each other through it. And then me and my sisters had this fantastic opportunity to do the cruising show.
“And literally within two or three weeks of it finishing, first Anne was diagnosed again and then literally four days later Linda.
“And it was just bam. It was really shocking.”
Coleen was just a child when she started performing alongside her sisters as part of the Irish girlband The Nolans.
Featuring all six sisters, the group rose to fame with songs like But I Do and Stuck On You, with I’m In The Mood For Dancing becoming their signature melody.
After Linda and Anne announced they were both battling cancer last year, Coleen bravely opened up about her own fears when it comes to the disease.
Speaking to OK! Magazine in September, the mum-of-three admitted she would consider undergoing a double mastectomy as a precaution.
She said: “When I first heard about Linda and Anne back in April, my knee-jerk reaction was, get these breasts off me!
“It’s like having two timebombs sitting there. Since then I’ve calmed down, but I still lie awake at night worrying. I’m in limbo and really struggling to decide.”
Linda and Anne have written a joint biography about their experience, titled Stronger Together: How We’re Living While Fighting, which is set for release in April.
