Actor and comedian Ade Edmondson was left red-faced after getting stuck out on a ledge cleaning his windows.
Fire crews had to be called to rescue the 64-year-old as he was cleaning his windows at a flat in Notting Hill.
A crowd had gathered beneath him to watch the drama as it unfolded.
Dressed casually in a black t-shirt and pale chinos, Ade was left kneeling as he peered over the abyss, a red bucket of water by his side.
The hapless Bottom actor was left pleading for help from onlookers, and finally his cries were heard by 46-year-old Duncan Cumming, who called the emergency services.
Ade later wrote on his social media: “Just trapped myself on a window ledge whilst cleaning the windows. Had to ask passerby to help. Fire brigade came. Small crowd gathered – thoroughly enjoying themselves.
“FB very kind and didn’t snigger too much as they rescued me. How’s your Bank Holiday?” he joked.
Quick-witted fans flocked to respond on Twitter, with one writing: “Hardly as bad as that time you got stuck at the top of the ferris wheel?” in reference to an iconic episode of Bottom.
Another quipped: “Reminds me of the Bottom episode where you [were] trapped on the shop roof with Rik.”
While a third added: “At least it’s nice out!”
Good Samaritan Duncan said: “I saw someone on the roof and thought it looked risky – but when I got closer I knew who it was.
“He shouted to me that he was locked out and asked if I would phone for the fire brigade, which of course I did.
“I left once I knew he was okay, but it’s not what you see every day.
“Occasionally in London, you do see famous people out and about – just not usually on a window ledge!” he laughed.
Adrian owns homes in Chagford, Devon, and London, which he shares with his comedian wife Jennifer Saunders.
